Colorado Gives Day, December 4th

Colorado Gives Day will take place on December 4th with 65 local non- profits participating. This opportunity has been around a few years and allows people to donate to charities in Colorado on one day a year, online–and have the organizations who receive donations receive a proportionate share of a $1 million grant; so the more money is donated to say, Manna, they receive a percentage of that grant. There are many organiza- tions across the state and many local. Some of our local ministries are not participating, so just look at the list and see if some of your current passions are participating.

There is a broad range of groups supporting a variety of causes: arts and culture, social action and advocacy, medical issues, education, environment, food/agriculture, housing, public safety, military/veterans, and youth. You can search on a cause or just put in the search line the name of the group you to wish to want to donate.

The website is: www.coloradogives.org and this opportunity is only available on the one day–December 4th!

We Need Your Help for Several Events and Projects this December

Well, it’s a busy season of the year for the Social Ministry Committee. What with the Thanksgiving stuffing, Salvation Army, and Angel Tree, we are all kept hoppin’.

First, we would like to thank all the choppers and smooshers who helped get the stuffing together for the Durango Thanksgiving Community meal. I am sure a fun time was had by all.

Second, you will have seen the sign-up sheets for ring-ing the bell for Salvation Army. As usual, we will be man- and womaning the North Door of WalMart for the week beginning December 3rd. Please consider helping with this valuable effort which provides most of the funds to help neighbors in need.

Third, going up soon is the Angel Tree. As usual, we have adopted some needy families and individuals from the community and will provide them with gifts and food for Christmas. Look for the instructions by the Angels.

We will be making announcements during services to keep you informed.

Thanks for all you do. If you have any questions about any of these programs, please call John Condie.
