CtK Piecemaker Quilters
The Piecemaker Quilters continue to meet regularly on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 10 am until 2 pm in the CtK Community Hall. During the Quilters June meeting, those in attendance had a “show and tell” from everyone about the projects they are working on for their upcoming Fall Quilt Sale which will take place on Sunday, August 8th and 15th before and after worship services (~ 8:30am—11:30am). The quilts will be displayed in the CtK Community Hall for your shopping convenience. Shoppers can peruse and purchase a variety of quilted items such as quilts, placemats, table runners, and towels, along with several smaller items. There’s sure to be something of interest that you would want to purchase for someone special or simply to purchase as a gift just for YOU! What’s more, ALL money received from the sale of these items goes back into buying more supplies and fabric to continue the quilters’mission of making and donating more quilts! Just this past June, despite the “pandemic year,” the group has worked diligently and been able to donate seven quilts to Mancos Nursing Home, in addition to donating quilts to CtK’s graduating seniors: one to each of two high school graduates, and one to a college graduate.
New members are warmly invited to join the quilters and help create these quilts for baptisms, graduations, pray quilts for those who are ill or homebound, long-term care residents (Four Corners and Mancos Nursing Homes), and for the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission (NELM) in Rock Point, AZ. If you need a sewing machine, two extra machines were donated to the group—you are welcome to use one. And, if quilting is a craft that has often interested you, but you don’t know how to quilt, there are quilters who will gladly teach you. They will help ensure you that your creation will be one you can feel proud about giving to someone in need. So, do consider coming to our next meeting on July 28th—you’ll be surprised at what we do and the fun and camaraderie we all share. We look forward to seeing you!
