The Altar Guild and Piecemakers quilting group are pleased to present new paraments to the congregation beginning with the Tree of Life for the Days After Pentecost season.  The Tree of Life growing from the Father’s creating hands recalls the tree of life in the Garden of Eden, (Genesis 1:9).  It also recalls the tree made into a cross on which Jesus was crucified. By His death our sins are forgiven and we receive new life in Him.  The words,”Behold, come be made new” recall Revelations 21:5 where John writes of his vision of a new heaven and earth and God proclaims, “I am making all things new.”

A Special Thank You Message

Deacon Mandy and all at Christ the King,

Sharing the Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County mission is one of most our treasured times, and we cannot possibly thank you enough for your warm welcome this past Sunday.  Looking out at the congregation was a clear reminder of the support provided by Christ the King for many years.  When asked if any in the room had volunteered the show of hands was heartwarming and humbling. We toss the word “grateful” about a lot, but this was a moment of pure gratitude for us.  The strength of Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County is the result of many hands, many hearts, and much love, and the faith family at the Christ the King is a shinning model.

Bless You All,

Curt Johnson, Faith Relations, Hammer Club, Board of Directors

Rachel Taylor-Saghie, Executive director

Opportunities to Volunteer in Your Community

Alternative Horizons (Email: alternativehorizons.org)

Alternative Horizons has a 24/7/365 hotline.  We staff the hotline with volunteers.  Right now our numbers are down and we are in need of volunteers.  It takes 15 or more volunteer to fully staff the hotline.  Was wondering if there might be a chance for AH to talk with church members about the volunteer position. A lot of time with direct contact people get what they need to know about the volunteering more so than on a flyer.  Or maybe you could get an announcement in the Newsletter.  Really anything would help.  If an individual would just like to come and do the training, that would be fine too.  They would just have to let me know that they want to come.  No commitment necessary.
