Habitat for Humanity
On June 8th, Christ the King provided 9 volunteers to help with the Habitat Build out at Fox Farms in Bayfield. We were joined by a Habitat Partners couple and the construction manager. While we can request what we would like to work on (in this case framing the house), it is potluck what we actually work on. This year it was finishing the foundation and prepping for framing. June 8th was a WARM day, but our volunteers kept at it! A big THANK YOU to Jacob Johnston, Pete Olson, Jim May, Larry Rardin, Danial Ciluffo, 3 Hobbys – Kim, Mitch, Eric, and Rap Fairley.
This year all our volunteers donated their work hours to the Partners. The Partners have to put in so many sweat equity hours to qualify for a home in addition to paying a mortgage. Habitat gives “a hand up”, not “a hand out”… and the opportunity for a better life for the family.
Our Build Day was sponsored in part by Thrivent who provides up to $250 for an approved project which impacts the community. Anyone can join Thrivent for $20/year and be involved in the community project. They are automatically eligible for this Community Impact Card, i.e., a VISA Community Impact Card. That’s a great return if you are trying to help a person or project.
