Pastor Tim Orlowski

Pastor Tim Orlowsky and Bishop Jim Gonia after Tim's installation as Pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Durango

Pastor Tim with Bishop James Gonia after Pastor Tim’s installation.

Just the facts:

Pastor Tim Orlowski has been at Christ the King since July 2013. He is a Detroit native who moved to the Southwest to attend college.

He earned a BA in German from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, then volunteered for a year with Youth Encounter music ministry, touring in the USA, Denmark, and Germany. He earned a Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, in 2007, having done his seminary internship at Christ Lutheran Church in Dallas, from 2005 to 2006.

He was the pastor at Messiah Lutheran Church in Albuquerque for six years before joining us at Christ the King, and has interests in mission outreach, ecumenical activities, and service at the synod level.

Tim and his wife Eryn have been married since June 2003. They have two (very cute) children who keep them on their toes.

Pastor Tim

In Pastor Tim’s words:

Ten Word Bio: A fellow disciple living into the future with Jesus Christ.

Birthplace: Warren, Michigan

Musical Stylings: I’m a modern country kind of guy – Tim McGraw, Zac Brown Band, The Band Perry, Brad Paisley, etc.

Film Interests: Stranger Than Fiction; Harry Potter series; Inception; When Harry Met Sally; With Honors; Dead Poets Society; and – although they’re not movies – I love The West Wing, Scrubs, and Football (GO BLUE!)

Literary Pursuits: Anything by Bill Bryson…I can’t get enough!  When I’m feeling a little more in the mood for intellectual stimulation, though, I pick up Shane Claiborne (esp. The Irresistible Revolution) or Nadia Bolz-Weber.

Little Known Fact: I cannot roll my tongue.

Favorite Place to Eat in Durango: Poppy’s (alas, Poppy’s is no more)

Who I’d Like to Meet: My family (yes, I see them every day, but right now that’s who is on my mind!)

Favorite Quote: “All translators are liars.” – don’t know who (if anyone) said it first, but it is a mantra for me.
