Love Out Loud

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to all those who participated in the 2019 Love Out Loud event.  What an amazing demonstration of God’s love as we served individuals and organizations on dozens of community service projects. We prepared 40 meals as part of the Meal Ministry held in our CtK kitchen.  CtK also hosted a Blood Drive and appreciated the 19 donors who participated in that project.  Thanks for spreading the Love!

Habitat Update

Many thanks to our 12 CtK volunteers who worked on the Habitat duplex and helped with lunch.  John Condie, Larry Fry, Jim Shadell, Dominique Holling, Larry Rardin, Tom Gray, Clark Lagow, Paul and Matt Pane all turned out to do some framing, painting, laying mulch, and building scaffolding…at least I think that’s what it was.  Barb Hawxhurst, Carroll Groeger, and Rap Fairley provided lunch for all the workers, which included not only CtK, but 2 groups of Americore volunteers, one of the partnership families, the construction manager, and a Hammer’s Club volunteer.  Habitat gives people “A hand up, not a hand out”.

Those of you wishing to volunteer more, Habitat for Humanity has a Hammer’s Club volunteer group which works during the week.  Contact Habitat Volunteer Coordinator, Taylor Irwin, at 970-382-2215 if you are interested or talk to Tom Gray.

Church Camp Out, July 19th–21st!

Our annual church camp out is coming up! Join me and other CtK’ers for two nights (or just one, if you’d prefer) at Chris Park, near Haviland Lake north of Durango. A group site has been reserved, and there is PLENTY of space for tent camping, and several spaces for RVs. If you plan to camp, please notify Pastor Tim as soon as possible. Campers can arrive anytime after 3:00pm on Friday, July 19th.

On Saturday, July 20th, all are welcome to a community dinner at 5:30pm at the Chris Park Pavilion (even if you’re not camping with us!). Hot dogs, brats and buns will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share. Please be sure to let Pastor Tim know if you plan to come, so that we have enough food.

After dinner, stick around for a good ol’ fashioned “Beverage & Hymn Sing!” Lemonade and hot chocolate will be provided. Otherwise, feel free to B.Y.O.beverage. We’ll circle up around the campfire and have a good time of fellowship and song. Feel free to bring your instrument along, too – any skill level welcome to join in the fun!

Finally, on Sunday, July 21st, we will have only ONE worship service at Christ the King Lutheran Church at 10:30am. (No 8:00am worship service that morning.)

I hope you’re able to make it for this fantastically fun time!

Peace,

Pastor Tim

The Piecemaker Quilters would like to invite all those interested in quilting (or wanting to learn how to quilt) to join us. You’ll find us a warm and accepting group who makes quilts for baptisms, the sick and elderly, as well as for various mission projects for those in need here at home and abroad. If you would like more information, please give Judy Danielson a call at the Durango Quilt Company: 970-247-2582.  The Piecemakers regularly meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm in the CtK Community Hall.   We look forward to seeing you!

The CtK Book Club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 3:00 pm in the CtK Library.
