Children’s World Early Learning Center
An important part of Christ the King’s ministry to the community, Children’s World serves about 30 families, caring for children from 6 weeks to five years old. Children’s World can always use volunteers for easy activities like holding infants and reading to preschoolers. If you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring a scholarship student, contact Director Renee Rodriguez, 970-247-4397.

Durango Amateur Radio Club – DARC is a group of volunteer amateur radio operators. They are available for emergency situations, as well as working various events such as the Iron Horse Bike Classic, the Hardrock 100 mile race, the Snowdown Balloon race – all with the focus on providing communications for safety purposes. The club administers a test session for new amateurs three times per year and meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 PM in the CtK Fellowship Hall. Contact: Paul Staby, 970-259-7577.

Overeaters Anonymous – Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues. Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive overeating and to carry this message of recovery to those who still suffer.

Al-Anon – The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness and that change attitudes can aid recovery. Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization, or institution; does not engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self-supporting through its own voluntary contributions. Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.

Alcoholics Anonymous – Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Contact: 970-247-1706

Women’s Prerogative – women’s barbershop singing group (4-part harmony, no accompaniment). We sing at various places such as nursing homes, Mercy Hospital, Tamarin Square, Rotary, City Market, the Diamond Belle, private parties, the Durango Narrow Gauge spring show, and Christ the King. Durango Barbershoppers – Men, come sing with us; we have created an atmosphere where newcomers feel welcome and comfortable regardless of singing ability. We sing every Tuesday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Christ the King. This is a great opportunity to start a new hobby, have fun and meet new people. 970-799-3724.

Nurturing Parents – The Family Center of Durango holds some of its larger classes at Christ the King. Its mission is to build healthy communities by promoting and supporting the growth and development of families. 970-385-4747

Boy Scouts – Troop 538: Ken Ouellette, Scout Master 970-259-4723. Regular meetings 6:45-9 PM; Troop committee meeting 2nd Thursday of each month 7-8:30 PM.

Co-Dependents Anonymous – All men and women seeking healthy and loving relationships are welcome to attend. CoDA is a Twelve-Step Program. The meetings will include a step study and open sharing. For information please contact Elaine 970-385-6845.

Project Linus – provides handmade blankets made of new materials to children of all ages in need. Our local chapter supplies hundreds of blankets each year to over 12 agencies in the 4 corners.
